Instinct

Be ready when Instinct opens its doors to products.

Instinct is the AI assistant people text to get things done. It has no integration program yet, but it is helping build Poppy, the Personal Agent Protocol. Flow Framework will support Poppy from day one.

Instinct has not announced a developer API. Poppy is a draft protocol; nothing is live on it yet.

What you can build

What it could look like
when Instinct can reach your product.

Food

Dinner sorted over text

Someone texts Instinct; Instinct asks your product for tables, with that person’s permission, and books one. An illustration of what Poppy is meant to allow.

Travel

Trips changed in one message

Reads the booking, asks before changing it.

Retail

Orders tracked

Answers from your systems, not a scraped page.

Money

Bills paid, with approval

Writes only after the person says yes.

Brand examples are illustrations of what could be built, not those companies' products.

The usual way vs. Flow

Today Instinct browses your website.
With Poppy, it asks your product.

Today, without Poppytoday

  1. Instinct reads your site like a person slow
  2. Breaks when the page changes fragile
  3. Signs in as the user, or gets blocked risky
  4. You can’t see or limit what it did blind

Reviews describe Instinct reaching companies by browsing their websites. Poppy is meant to replace that with agents that say who they are and act within limits the person sets.

With Flow Frameworkready

  1. Write your product’s jobs as tools1–2 hrs
  2. Serve them with sign-in (MCP)built in
  3. Poppy support when it shipsday one
tools/find-tables.ts
import { tool } from "@flow-engineer/flow";
import { z } from "zod";

export default tool({
  name: "find_tables",
  description: "Open tables for a party size and time.",
  input: z.object({ when: z.string(), guests: z.number() }),
  run: async (q) => api.tables.available(q),
});

How Flow works

Write it once. Ship it to Instinct and everywhere else.

  • Your tools, one placeWrite what your product can do once. The same tools serve ChatGPT, Claude and messaging apps today.
  • Poppy from day oneFlow Framework will support the Personal Agent Protocol from day one, so assistants like Instinct can reach your product with the person’s permission.
  • Each person signs inAgents act only within what that person allowed: view, change, or both.

Get started

How to get your product ready for Instinct.

  1. Create a Flow project

    Run npx @flow-engineer/flow new my-agent, or ask Claude Code or Codex to set it up. You get one folder: the agent’s instructions, its tools, its skills and its tests.

  2. Write what it can do as tools

    Each job is a TypeScript function with a typed input that calls your API: check an order, book a slot, find a deal. No protocol code.

  3. Test it on simulated users

    Run npx @flow-engineer/flow test. Simulated users try the scenarios that matter, including people who change their mind or ask for something your agent should refuse.

  4. Serve it today

    Flow serves your tools as an MCP server with each user’s sign-in, live in ChatGPT and Claude now.

  5. Turn on Poppy when it ships

    Flow Framework will support Poppy from day one. Check your site’s readiness with the Poppy checker.

Guide

Instinct and Poppy, explained.

What is Instinct?

Instinct is a personal AI assistant that people text or call to get things done, made by Spear Street Technology in San Francisco and invite-only during its beta, according to reviews. Forbes reported a $2.5B valuation weeks after launch.

Does Instinct have an API or integrations?

Not yet. Instinct has not announced a developer API or integration program, so products cannot plug into it directly today. We hope it opens integration support soon, and this page will say when it does.

Is Instinct part of Poppy?

Yes, as reported: PYMNTS lists Instinct among the design partners helping Meta and Sierra build Poppy, with Genesys, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe and Walmart. One account of Meta’s announcement lists other partners, and design-partner status is not a live implementation.

What is Poppy?

Poppy, the Personal Agent Protocol, is an open draft standard for how a person’s AI agent works with a company: the agent says who it is, and the person chooses whether it can view their account, make changes, or both. A company publishes one file describing how agents may connect. Read our explainer.

How does Flow help?

Flow Framework turns your product’s jobs into typed tools served with each user’s sign-in, and it will support Poppy from day one. Build once and you are ready for Instinct, ChatGPT, Claude and messaging apps.
